Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
