PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
